Quote costs and margin

On Pro, you can turn on quote costing to compare what a job will cost your shop against the quote total. Margin shows on quote variants and on the quote detail page.

Who can do this​

  • Organisation admins turn the feature on and set default rates in Settings → Invoices
  • Staff with job access can enter costs on quotes and extra expenses on jobs
  • Starter plans see an upgrade prompt — costing is Pro only

Turn it on​

  1. Go to Settings → Invoices
  2. Enable Track quote costs & margin
  3. Set your target and minimum margin %, default rates (template, fit, cut burden £/hour), and optionally block approve when margin is below the minimum

The feature stays off until you enable it, so shops that do not want costing are not cluttered.

Where costs come from​

CostWhere you enter it
MaterialUnit cost on Stock (items and slabs). Linked job materials feed the margin.
Template / Cut / FitCost estimate on the quote detail page (open the quote from the job).
Extra expensesList on the job (travel, sinks, parking, and so on).

Cut time is the Hours field under Cut on the quote — not in Settings. Settings only stores the default £/hour burden rate (staff, water, power, and machine wear in one rate).

Update costs after approve​

You can still edit template, cut, and fit hours on the approved quote if the job takes longer than estimated. Approve, send, and delete stay locked; only the cost estimate stays editable.
